The AM2Sv1 should be taken by apprentices who were registered on the installation/Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship Standard from September 2023. If you were registered before September 2023, you’ll be doing the original AM2S assessment. If you’re in doubt – please speak to your training provider to ask when you were registered and what version of the AM2S you will be taking.
The duration of the assessment is 19 hours.
The AM2 competence assessment comprises of six sections A – E:
Section A1: Safe Isolation and Risk Assessment – 1 hour
Section A2 – A6: Composite Installation – 10.5 hours
Section B: Inspection, Testing and Certification – 3.5 hours
Section C: Safe Isolation – 30 minutes
Section D: Fault Diagnosis and Rectification – 2 hours
Section E: Assessment of Applied Knowledge (Online Examination) – 1.5 hour
Candidates will never be charged more for their resits than the total price of their relevant assessment. Therefore, the total price for resits is capped at £1340.00 plus VAT for the AM2sv1 assessment.

At the end of the assessment NET Services will contact you directly via email to inform you of your results.
In the event that you wish to appeal any part of your assessment there is an Appeals process, following NET Services recommendation. Please ensure that this process is followed.
